Easter Chicks

Can you say CUTE??? I sat down yesterday to come up with some Easter cards to send out to friends and family. I knew I wanted to use the set A Good Egg from Stampin' Up! and I also wanted to try and use some of the designer paper in my new prints pack I got. I tend to be one of those stampers who sees beautiful cards done using all the wonderful designer papers out there, but when I sit down to create a card of my own they turn out horrific! For once I am very pleased with how these turned out. My only problem now is that I don't want to give them away!!!

The card design was based off of a card I saw Dawn Griffith do on her blog HERE. I love how she folded the bottom end of the card up and attached her ribbon bow. I decided that I would use the same style layout for my cards. I used the floral print paper from the prints pack which is a level 1 hostess gift on each of the cards. I admit I ended up using a sheet of each color beacuse I could not decide which one I liked. Problem solved - I made one of each and now have a set of 5 cards. I still can't decide which one is my favorite.

The baby chick image is stamped in basic black ink and then punched out using the scallop punch. I stamped the image again on a scrap of the print paper I had left over after cutting and adhering the background piece. Then I cut out the eggshell and attached it to the scalloped chicken ( hmmmmm...that kind of sounds like something you could eat!!). I then finished coloring my baby chick in Barely Banana and mounted him with dimensionals onto a marvy punched circle of coordinating color card stock which was then mounted onto a marvy punched whisper white scalloped circle. This was attached to the card using dimensionals so the little guy actually pops out at you. The scalloped border was done using the same scrap piece of print paper and the corner rounder punch with the guard taken off. If you do not know how to do this you can find an awsome tutorial on Beate John's Blog HERE.

Happy Stamping~
