Supplies needed: Card stock, choice of ink colors, masking tape, embossing powder, powder pal, heat tool
Step # 1: Apply masking tape in small pieces randomly all over the piece of card stock you want to look like leather. The color of the card stock won't really matter because in the end it will be completely cover up. Here I just used whisper white.
This is what your piece will look like once it has been covered in tape. Let the pieces go over the ends and make sure you haven't missed any spots.
Step #2: Trim the outer edges of tape off the card stock.
This is what your piece will look after it has been taped and trimmed.
Step #3: Apply your choice of ink directly to the taped card stock. I found that twisting and rubbing the ink pad gave me better results. Others have suggested using sponge daubers to apply the ink, but this method didn't work the best for me. You'll have to experiment to find out your best avenue. You can also apply more than one color of ink if you'd like. I chose to use Close to Cocoa ink on one of my attempts and Chocolate Chip on another.
Step #4: After you have inked the taped card stock to your liking apply clear embossing powder over the entire piece. You do not need to apply heat & stick powder or Versamark. The embossing powder will stick directly onto the texture of the inked tape.
Step #5: Using your heat tool, heat the embossing powder. You will be able to tell when it is done by the change in color. In the photo above the right side of the card stock has been heat embossed.
Step #6: This is your finished piece of Faux Leather. Stamp, embellish and create with it as you choose.Happy Stamping~
